Introducing Gen Primera
NextLevel Mujeres is proud to announce the launch of Gen Primera, a first-year college mentorship initiative designed specifically for first-generation students who are stepping onto a college campus for the very first time. We know the journey of being “the first” comes with both pride and pressure — adjusting to new environments, balancing expectations, and discovering how to thrive while also carrying the hopes of our families and communities. Gen Primera was created to walk alongside students through this critical transition, providing not only guidance, but also connection and belonging.
At its core, Gen Primera is rooted in cultural identity and leadership development. We believe that being first-generation isn’t a limitation. Through personalized mentoring, students will have access to guidance, skill-building resources to strengthen their academic journey, and opportunities to build community with other first-gen Latinas who share similar experiences.
Participants will also have access to the Latina Lens, our digital publication, where they’ll read stories of resilience, leadership, and success from Latinas paving the way. Even more, students will have the chance to share their journey through our “College Conexión” section because representation matters, and their voices deserve to be heard.
Our mission is clear: for Latinas who are the first, but not the last. Gen Primera is more than mentorship; it’s a movement to break barriers, build resilience, and create pathways for the next generation of leaders.
